CELL QUESTIONS

Sermon Application questions 2 Timothy 11-18 “Trusting God When it’s Dark”
Read the Passage again and have someone give a review from their sermon notes

1. Paul describes a few reasons for why he is not ashamed of Christ, or the gospel. What are they?

2. In v. 11 we see an expression of God’s Sovereign placement, and in v. 12 an expression of God’s Sovereign keeping. Describe how Paul sees this, and how these truths are a comfort to Him.

How does knowing these two truths help you? Or how can it?

3. v. 13 is a command (and a challenge to us) to pursue healthy doctrine in the faith and love that are in Christ. That is, there is teaching which is sound and healthy and that which isn’t. There is also a pursuing knowledge which leads to pride, and that which produces the kind of love and faith that we see in Jesus.

As you think about where you are in your own life and relationship to the Lord, which part of this instruction do you need to focus on? Why?

4. Trace the way in which Paul speaks of the empowering of the Holy Spirit in these verses. See v. 7, 8, 14. Do you find yourself seeking the help and empowering of the Holy Spirit? Why or why not?
Give some examples of what this might look like?

5. How does the example of Onesiphorus the “risk taker” encourage you?
